I hope you are having a wonderful week. I wanted to take a moment to check in with you regarding a couple of things: 1) To encourage you with what we heard from God's Word, 2) To give you a special challenge for this week! Also, I have included a brief Cotton family and life update for you guys. Exciting things are happening! See you guys soon!
Sunday Recap (Thank you, B.J. Condrey!)
This past Sunday, B.J. continued our journey through the book of Esther. At this point in the story, Haman's pride and hatred have set in motion a plan to destroy God's people, while Esther courageously prepares to approach the king on behalf of the Jews. What stood out most in the message was the seemingly ordinary statement found in Esther 6:1:
"On that night the king could not sleep."
No miracle. No prophet. No dramatic display of power. Just a sleepless night. And yet, that ordinary moment became the turning point of the entire story.
B.J. reminded us of the beautiful doctrine of God's providence—God's invisible hand directing ordinary events to accomplish His will. What appears to us as coincidence is often the loving and sovereign work of our heavenly Father, weaving together countless details for His glory and the good of His people.
The message challenged us to remember that God's providence never cancels human responsibility. Esther still had to act. Mordecai still had to remain faithful. In the same way, we are called to trust God deeply while continuing to take the next faithful step. Perhaps you are carrying a burden right now. Maybe you feel forgotten, overlooked, or tempted to wonder whether God is truly at work. Esther reminds us that even when God seems silent, His hand is never still. He is working in your ordinary moments. In the very places where we have lost heart. And He is accomplishing purposes far greater than we can presently see. As B.J. reminded us so well, we are called to live faithfully, trust deeply, and leave the unfolding of the story to the God who never sleeps.
A Special Challenge for This Week
▶ Take some time this week to ask yourself:
▶ What keeps me awake at night?
▶ Where have I lost hope?
▶ Where am I tempted to believe that God has forgotten me?
Then bring those burdens to the Lord in prayer and take the next faithful step He has placed before you.
Friends, please read this line twice: You do not have to understand everything. You do not have to see everything. But you can trust the God who sees everything. Because while God may seem silent in your life, His hand is never still.
When we start to doubt God's care for us, let us look back to the cross where Jesus publicly declares our value and his care for us. You and I are more sinful than we would like to admit, but in Christ, we are loved more than we could ever imagine. Trust him.
Quick Life Update
On a personal note, I wanted to let you know how grateful Alisa and I are for your prayers and encouragement during this season. We are getting very close to finally moving into town!
The Cotton family is scheduled to close on our house tomorrow, and if all goes according to plan, we'll be moving in by July 10th. We are incredibly thankful for the Lord's provision and are excited to continue putting down roots and doing life together with all of you. Thank you for loving our family so well and for walking alongside us during this transition. We truly feel blessed to call this church home.
